In order to maximize your workstation ergonomics, you need to make the necessary adjustments to create the most comfortable area of work. When your workplace revolves around the principles of ergonomics, expect to have healthy employees.
- Correct posture – Make sure your body is centered in front of the keyboard and that you are seated in an erect position. Forearms should be level or slightly angled up.
- Typing – Keep your wrists straight over the keyboard.
- Wrist support – Use a wrist rest to avoid awkward wrist positions and to rest your wrists throughout the day.
- Chair height –Have both feet rest comfortably on the floor. Make sure hips and knees are horizontally aligned.
- Foot support – If you cannot adjust your chair to a comfortable height where you can have both feet flat on the chair, use a foot support.
- Desk size – The ideal workstation should at least be 19” deep and 30” wide.
